Tempo Omni Marker II

Purpose built for lasting, reliable marking and locating of buried utilities across diverse environments.

The Omni Marker II is engineered to provide precision marking for utilities such as cable, gas, water, fiber, and sanitary systems. Its passive, self-leveling design simplifies installation and ensures long-term detectability, making it essential for contractors, installers, and utility managers.

Instrument Configuration and Durability

The Omni Marker II features a patented self-leveling coil structure that automatically orients horizontally once buried. This design ensures that the strongest detection zone is always centered above the buried marker, regardless of its placement angle. Constructed from color-coded, high-density polyethylene, it is lightweight, waterproof, and resistant to acids, alkalis, and solvents. The absence of active components eliminates maintenance and the risk of hazardous leaks.

Detection Method and Field Performance

This marker uses passive resonant circuitry that responds when energized by any standard marker locator, emitting a precise dipole RF field both above and below the unit. It is easily detectable at depths up to approximately five feet, offering pinpoint accuracy and consistent performance over time.

Field Use and Applications

Ideal for marking buried splices, conduit ends, cable paths, manholes, septic systems, and non-metallic lines under pavement or soil. The self-leveling design allows quick installation in trenches or service drops. Without orientation concerns, crews can confidently mark utilities knowing accuracy remains intact even under snow cover or rough terrain.

Physical Specs and Longevity

  • Detectable Depth: Up to 5 ft in most soils

  • Diameter: Approximately 4 in (100 mm)

  • Weight: Approximately 0.3 lb (154 g) per marker

  • Housing Material: High-density polyethylene (HDPE), durable, reusable, recyclable

  • Design Life: 40 years or more, matching the buried infrastructure’s longevity

  • Color Coding: Frequency-coded per utility (orange for cable, yellow for gas, green for sanitary, etc.)

Why Field Operators Choose Omni Marker II

Operators rely on the Omni Marker II for uncompromised precision, hands-off deployment, and enduring performance. Its passive design requires no power, no orientation, and no maintenance, simplifying workflows while enhancing safety. When paired with standard marker locators, it provides a dependable, high-visibility reference for utility mapping and future excavation projects.
